Sometimes cleaning your house can be a daunting task. Depending on the level of cleaning required, it can take days of planning and work for the family. But we can save you some time and money with this. Here’s our top 5 tips & tricks for cleaning a house. Trust us. At Mean Green Cleaning we know clean.
5 Tips & Tricks For House Cleaning
- Start high –
- No, we aren’t talking about drugs! Always start with the high stuff first. For example: if you have to dust ceiling fans, do it before you do anything else. Then do high shelves and so on, working your way down. This saves you a lot of time because you won’t have to reclean anything that you accidentally get dirty after it’s clean.
- Edging –
- Cleaning along the edges of everything and working your way in will give you a quick and clean finished surface. At Mean Green Cleaning, we use brushes to get in the hard to reach areas; like behind sink focets and inside small crevices. Don’t underestimate the power of an old toothbrush.
- Use a broom to get along the edges of the room first. Then, when you get the rest with a good vaccuum cleaner, you won’t miss anything on the edge accidentally.
- Get it wet –
- Do you have a surface you can’t get clean? If it won’t be destroyed by a little water, then get it wet! Put down some towels and try dish soap. It works great on many greasy substances like pizza stains or cooking spatter on your walls. Just mix some dish soap and hot water together in a bucket then use the soft side of a sponge. Be careful though. If you rub too hard, you will take off your paint, so take it slow and easy.
- Do it fast –
- Don’t let your cleansers dry out! If you spray something, you usually want to clean it immediately. Otherwise you take a risk that the cleanser will dry and leave a bigger mess than you started with. It might seem like you will save time if you spray everything and then wipe it all down but you usually won’t get to everything fast enough. You will conserve your energy and your cleanser if you just spray what you can finish before it dries.
- Finish hard –
- Sometimes it just takes a little “elbow grease” to get something clean. Don’t be affraid to lean into it. Most surfaces can take it. Just dont lean into walls or other surfaces covered with latex paint.
- Don’t lean into steel wool or any metallic brushing or you will damage most surfaces!
